  • by Chantal McCulligh

While other people are searching for a list of the top most dangerous travel destinations for 2018 in an effort to avoid them, you’re searching for the same list to decide where to go to. There’s a potential risk of danger wherever you travel to – that’s part of the excitement. So, if you’re looking for some dangerous vacation, these are the ones you may want to consider.

This list was compiled by Endsleigh Insurance Services.

Most dangerous travel destinations, most dangerous places to travel, most dangerous countries, worst countries to travel to, how to travel to a dangerous destination, list of dangerous countries, carbon fiber wallet, carbon fiber passport cover, leather passport covers, leather passport wallets, tactical pen

Thailand – 23% of Insurance Claims

Thailand is a beautiful travel destination and one that many people go to each and every year. It’s known for its picturesque scenery, sandy beaches, gourmet cosine and grand temples. However, almost 25% of travel insurance claims in 2017 were made in Thailand and although nothing specific was mentioned, most of the claims made in 2017 were medical-related.

Chile – 15% of Insurance Claims

Chile is yet another incredible travel destination that is rarely deemed as ‘dangerous’. However, Endsleigh Insurance Services reported that 15% of all insurance claims made in 2017 were in this stunning destination. Again, nothing specific was mentioned. So, definitely do your own research.

United States – 15% of Insurance Claims

We bet you’re shocked to see the United States on the list of the most dangerous travel destinations for 2018 but don’t be mistaken. The United States tied with Chile, making up for 15% of all travel insurance claims made in 2017.  Though, the list doesn’t explain what the exact risks are when traveling to the United States and there’s no denying that there are incredible – and incredibly safe places to travel to within the states.

Spain – 8% of Insurance Claims

With 8% of all insurance claims being made in Spain, this destination has officially been put on the list of the most dangerous travel destinations for 2018. Street crime seems to be the biggest issue in Spain, as well as stolen passports. So, you’ll want to make sure you have a carbon fiber passport cover and one that’s designed with RFID armor protection. It’s also recommended to keep an eye on your bags at all times.

Germany – 8% of Insurance Claims

Sharing the title of 8% of all insurance claims being made in 2017, Germany also landed itself on the list. Again, Endsleigh Insurance Services doesn’t elaborate on what makes Germany unsafe in particular but does state that most of the claims are medical-related.

However, Germany does have a level 2 caution travel advisory due to terrorism. Though, you’re not one to let terrorists get what they want by avoiding some of the best places in the world.

Peru – 8% of Insurance Claims

Another 8% of travel insurance claims were made in Peru in 2017, according to Endsleigh Insurance Services. This country also has an ‘exercise a high degree of caution’ advisory for the country and it is recommended to avoid any non-essential travel to areas that border with Columbia and Ecuador, as well as districts of Kimbiri, Vilcabamba, Huallaga, Toucache, and many more.

While we can’t say what the travel insurance claims were, a quick search online will explain that Peru has serious crime issues. So, if you dare to take the risk of traveling to Peru, make sure you have a zipper carbon fiber wallet and an increased caution.

Nepal – 8% of Insurance Claims

Nepal is another travel destination that gathered a total of 8% insurance claims in 2017. It’s said to have an ‘exercise a high degree of caution’ advisory particularly due to crime. Particularly, armed robberies were mentioned as a risk specifically for anyone traveling alone. So, make sure you have your wits and buddies with you before you take off to this destination.

France – 7% of Insurance Claims

Coming in with almost 7% of all claims were made, France has unfortunately made it on the list of the most dangerous travel destinations. This is particularly due to the pick-pocketing happening in the area. Fortunately, you can easily protect yourself from becoming a victim in this area by using a carbon fiber wallet that has RFID protection infused into the fabric. This will keep the risk of being electronically pick-pocketed at bay. Though, you may want to opt for a zipper carbon fiber wallet to add additional protection against anyone who is brave enough to reach in your pockets.

Bahamas – 4% of Insurance Claims

Only 4% of travel claims in 2017 were made in the Bahamas. However, this travel destination does come with an ‘exercise a high degree of caution’ advisory due to the violent crime that occurs particularly on the islands of New Providence and Grand Bahama.

There’s also been an increase in home invasions, robberies and assaults in the cities of Nassau and Freeport. Opportunistic crime such as pickpocketing and purse snatching also occurs frequently throughout the country. So, keep your belongings close and make sure you have a zipper carbon fiber wallet and leather passport cover, as well as a tactical pen.

Brazil – 4% of Insurance Claims

Despite Brazil often being deemed as an extremely dangerous place to travel, it only accounts for 4% of all travel insurance claims made in 2017. However, if you do some research online, you’ll see an ‘exercise a high degree of caution’ advisory due to the high crime that can be found throughout Brazil.

Additionally, the army was recently deployed there due to an increased number of shootings and deaths of bystanders by stray bullets. So, although only 4% of claims were made in Brazil, the risk is likely significantly higher than many of the other destinations mentioned.

If you’re traveling to one of the most dangerous travel destinations for 2018, you want to make sure you’re prepared. It’s highly recommended to conduct a thorough amount of research to ensure you know exactly what you’re getting into and can prepare accordingly. Additionally, you’ll want to ensure all of your travel documents and cards are stored in RFID-proof materials. Shop our carbon fiber wallets, leather passport covers and tactical pens to help keep you and your prized possessions safe as you put danger to the test.
